The Desert Gives You Comfort

Finally I got to draw one of my favorite characters, Kmish. I love pretty much everything about this character, so I am gonna give a nice long description about wind dragons and Kmish in particular.

Wind dragons are wild, reckless, destructive, unpredictable, and obnoxious for the most part. They grow up with a strong urge to break things and get into trouble, but they aren't inherently evil. They just like to mess things up. Wind dragons are the smallest dragon, with the biggest only coming to the size of a lion. Even so, they are extremely dangerous, mostly because of their unpredictable behavior. They can release extremely powerful winds from their mouths, strong enough to level buildings. It's said that some can even produce tornadoes with their breaths. Wind dragons are obsessed with flying, and hardly ever land on the ground. They can land on clouds, and some people like to refer to them as "Cloudwalkers". As they grow up, wind dragons are constantly ignored or even attacked by other dragons, and usually find it impossible to make friends or form relationships. They become cold and distant, and begin to live solely for the pleasure of destroying things. Fortunately for the general population, there aren't very many wind dragons around. This is because they tend to die young. Oftentimes they are killed by other dragons for the crime of being really annoying.

This is what almost happens to Kmish. He starts off as a normal young wind dragon, and decides to bug a much larger light dragon one day. The dragon mostly ignores him, but Kmish is persistent, and eventually the dragon lashes out and crunches through his wing. Kmish is shocked, and when he realizes that his wing will probably not heal, he pretty much decides to kill himself. Dragons can live forever, so they have a built in system that they use to die when they are tired of living. Kmish activates that and just lays there dying. But then a kindly earth dragon happens upon him. He scoops Kmish up and takes him to the nearest town. He gets a healer to fix Kmish's wing and gives him a stern talking to on reasons to live and such. Kmish is so overwhelmed by the thought that someone actually cares about him that he doesn't die and instead pretty much decides to become Yarkov's best friend. Yarkov is a very easygoing earth dragon, so he allows this and they become total bros. And Yarkov kinda takes charge of Kmish and keeps him from wrecking too much stuff, and Kmish doesn't mind because he has a friend now.
